Run for Asylum Seekers
Story
Our team is taking part in the 2015 Melbourne Marathon Festival and hoping to raise funds in support of the Lentara UnitingCare Asylum Seeker Program.
So many people have desperately fled their home countries to escape terrible circumstances. They have come to Australia seeking asylum.
This October, we are going to sweat it out and run because we care. We long for an Australia that is welcoming, compassionate and generous.
We are honoured to support this great cause by being part of this amazing race, and we’d really appreciate your support in this endeavour.
POST-RACE UPDATE: A big thanks to all involved - supporters, donors, and particularly our runners. It was perfect conditions for running, and many thousands of people enjoying the morning. Well doen to our Marathon representative, Nigel, who completed the journey in just under 3:30hrs.
A great fundrasing total in support of our efforts with Asylum Seekers.
Next year? I hope so.

Lentara UnitingCare is an agency of the Uniting Church in Australia, serving the people of the North and West of Melbourne. Lentara UnitingCare is a not-for-profit agency.
Our Services
Lentara provides a diverse range of community services including emergency relief and material aid, financial counselling, no interest loans, asylum seeker programs, integrated family services, community development, the Sunshine Mission, a Communal Justice Project, the Brimbank Men’s Shed, the Devonshire House Tea Rooms, Orana care leaver services, bargain centres, Communities for Children and a range of early childhood services.
